Book Review of “Lethal Bayou Beauty (Miss Fortune Mystery #2)” by Jana Deleon

Blurb

No one in Sinful liked Pansy Arceneaux, but who hated her enough to kill her?

When aspiring actress Pansy Arceneaux returns to Sinful, Louisiana to head up the beauty pageant portion of the Summer Festival, CIA assassin Fortune Redding knows she’s in for trouble. Her undercover identity as a former beauty queen make Fortune the perfect choice to chair the event with Pansy, but Pansy’s abrasive personality make it impossible to get through a single rehearsal without a fight.

When Pansy turns up dead, Fortune is the prime suspect.

Armed with only her wits and two conniving seniors referred to locally as The Geritol Mafia, Fortune launches an investigation to find the real killer before her cover is blown.

Genre: Cozy Mystery
My Review

Fortune Redding returns with her 2nd week at Sinful and yet another murder. This time, Pansy is dead and Celia is determined to pin it on Fortune. The mystery is tricky this time too, but the humor never falters. Jana Deleon has a brilliant art of mixing mystery and humor in just the right proportions so as to not have too much of either.

The characters of Fortune, Ida Bella, Gertie and Marie is fabulous and engaging. You cannot help but fall in love with the Sinful Ladies Society (SLS). The 2nd book in the series hints just enough to make the readers wonder if Carter and Fortune will end up together. They will, of course, make an amazing couple, if they can just keep from stepping on each others’ toes.

Yet another fabulous read of Miss Fortune Series.
