Book Review of “The dragon of the month club” by Iain Reading

The Dragon Of The Month Club is the exciting first installment in a new book series that tells the story of Ayana Fall and Tyler Travers, two best friends who stumble across an extraordinarily magical book and soon find themselves enrolled as members of a very special and exclusive club – The Dragon of the Month Club.

On the thirteenth of every month a new dragon conjuring spell is revealed and the two friends attempt to summon the latest Dragon of the Month. The varieties are almost endless: Air Dragons, Paper Dragons, Fog Dragons, Waterfall Dragons, Rock Dragons, Tree Dragons – not to mention special bonus dragons for all the major holidays, including a particularly prickly Holly Dragon for Christmas.

But one day when a conjuring spell somehow goes wrong Ayana and Tyler find themselves unexpectedly drawn into a fantastical world of adventure based on the various books scattered all across Tyler’s messy bedroom. Traveling from one book-inspired world to the next with nothing to rely on but their wits and a cast of strange and exotic dragons at their disposal they must try to somehow find their way home again.

Drawing inspiration from some of literature’s most memorable stories – from 19th century German folktales to the streets of Sherlock Holmes’s London – the adventures of Ayana and Tyler bring these classic stories to life in delightfully strange and unexpected ways. Filled with fascinating detail and non-stop action these books will spark the imaginations of readers of all ages to inspire a life-long love of reading and seeking out books that are just a little bit off the beaten track

Genre: Adventure / Middle Grade / YA / Fantasy
My Review:

When the target is YA, the story has to be fascinating and engaging. DOTMC covers these aspects nicely. The story is about two 7 year old who get stuck in book world.

The book is first part of a series and therefore, is left on a cliff hanger. Ayana and Tyler are average 7 year old who came together by chance and became good friends. Then they come across a book, which gives spells to conjure dragon. The book is about how they conjure new dragons every month and suddenly, due to a mishap, they find themselves in the world of books in Tyler’s bedroom.
The book feels more of Middle grade than Young Adult. The story is sweet and nice. The merging of various books, some imaginary and some existing books, into the original book was truly beautiful. The characters are sweet and the friendship between them is adorable. The book would be an amazing read for pre-teens and early teenagers.

Restaurant Review of “SeaU” Thane, Mumbai

SeaU is a recently opened restaurant in Thane which specializes in sea food. Since we were all in a mood for it, we thought of trying it. And Boy! Were we ever so happy with a restaurant! When we reached the restaurant, it was completely empty sans one couple. We were skeptical of going ahead with our choice but then we decided to take to take a chance. And that was the nest choice we made.

Rawas Koliwada and Mochar Chops (Veg)
Rawas Koliwada and Mochar Chops (Veg)

Right from the time we entered, the hosts were constantly alert around us. Our plate were changed immediately to give us fresh plates. We ordered Veg TomKha soup for starters and also Mochar Chops and Ravas Koliwada. The food was served without much delay. The soup was amazing. Starters were delicious.

During the time we went, they were not serving alcohol as their permit is still pending. Maybe the next time we go, we will get to drink as well.

Prawns Curry and Veg Patiala

For main course, we were suggested prawns and veg Patiala. Both were awesome. The quantity was enough for all of us. The service was impeccable. The overall experience was outstanding. Loved everything about the restaurant. Just hope that they maintain this after they get well known.
